Our Story

“How long have you known each other?”

This is the question we keep hearing. Well, we met about 6 years ago at Grace Community Church, known each other as friends during that time, and last summer/fall began a romance between best friends.

Jr. High Group Volunteers

Bill and Rachel knew each other years ago through youth group

We knew each other as volunteers in the youth group at Grace.

“I remember thinking that some lucky guy would end up marrying Rachel,” says Bill, but he never dreamed it would be him. “‘WOW!’ is all I can say at the amazing plan our Lord has orchestrated over the last 6 years.” If Bill had been told that things would have ended up this way, he would have been very skeptical.

Rachel’s always thought that Bill was a sweet person. “He was always willing to help out, even when I handed him a huge list of things to do,” says Rachel. Off and on through out the years, Rachel had a crush on him, but never thought to ever to do anything about it. While in college, God had told Rachel that the person she would marry was someone that she already knew. “It never occurred to me that Bill would be the one! I am so amazed at all of the puzzle pieces that were given to me at different times, that all of a sudden fit together.”

Ft. Worth Zoo Day

Andrew, Rachel, and Bill went for animals and Mellow Mushroom Pizza

Rachel and Andrew invited Bill to go with them to the Ft. Worth Zoo and to try out some amazing pizza at the Mellow Mushroom.

It was a hot, exhausting summer day. (Even the giraffes were tired and hot.) But it was a fun time with friends. And afterwards we went for some amazing pizza to refresh ourselves for the drive home.

Good times with great friends.

Inception

The facebook event that “flopped” into something wonderful

Bill was wanting to go see the movie, Inception, last summer and decided to invite all of his facebook friends to join him to see who would meet up with him.

“I had planned on seeing the movie with some of the junior high and high school guys from church, but the only person who responded to the movie invite on facebook was Rachel,” remembers Bill. “I thought, well at least I won’t have to see the movie alone, but after the movie we started talking and catching up as friends in the parking lot. I didn’t want to make things weird as friends but wanted to spend some more time with Rachel, so I cautiously asked her if she’d like to talk over drinks at Starbucks. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.”

“I was trying not to freak out when Bill asked to go to Starbucks afterwards,” says Rachel. She didn’t want to read anything into it, and she says she didn’t want to make the friendship weird or ruin it. “I ended up having a blast.” admits Rachel.

Go make lifetime memories today as you marry your best friend. That is the best way to start, (that’s what we did). Wish we could be there with you.
